Description: Jasper County Hospital
is a critical access hospital providing primary care and
specialty services such as cardiology, orthopedics,
urology, oncology and more through hospital based
outpatient clinics. Inpatient services include
medical/surgical, obstetrics, and an extended care unit.
A fully automated laboratory, certified mammography
services, CT, MRI, ultrasound, and nuclear scanning meet
the testing needs of inpatients and outpatients.
The original hospital was built in 1962 and consisted
of 3 stories and a lower level. There have been two
subsequent major additions since then. The first was in
1971 and added a 3 story, plus lower level addition to
the west end of the hospital, which included office
space and patient rooms. The last was in 1982 and added
a 1 story plus lower level addition to the east end of
the hospital, which included the main entry and
registration and ER treatment areas.
The proposed Addition/Remodel project includes a
27,000 s.f. addition to house the updated Surgery
Department and MRI suite on the first floor and the
re-located Departments of Oncology, Sleep Lab, and
Health Information Services on the lower level. A major
renovation of approximately 9,000 s.f on the first floor
will include recovery areas and a greatly expanded
Outpatient Department. There will also be another 18,000
s.f. of updates to existing corridor and entry lobby
finishes, a complete chiller plant replacement, and
miscellaneous work within the lower levels to facilitate
the project.
